The GeneratePress Loop Template Element

Recently, a new feature was introduced to GeneratePress Premium. The documentation says “The Loop Template block element allows you to build your own archive loops using the block editor.”

I tried it out on a test site, and was pretty impressed.

You’ll need to add a new Block Element from the WordPress dashboard under Appearance>GeneratePress>Elements. Choose an Element Type of “Loop Template” and set a location (e.g. Post Category Archive) in the Display Rules section towards the bottom of the page.

The layout itself is added using a Query Loop block. You can build your own or copy and paste one from the Patterns Library.

The documentation is pretty sparse and, so far, there does not seem to be a tutorial on the GeneratePress YouTube channel. But I recommend “JUST RELEASED! A Better POST LOOP System in GeneratePress Pro 2.2!” on the Admin Bar channel and “GeneratePress Theme Customization | Post Loop Update (Beta)” by WP Tuts.
